Mmmmm....Irish Coffee!

Irish coffee history and recipes

Late one winter night in 1943 Chef Joe Sheridan, of the Foynes Airport Restaurant, was told to prepare a nice warm meal for a flight that was told to turn back to the airport due to inclement weather. Well, Chef Joe thought it would be nice to serve them a warm drink with a kick to start the meal off ...and there you have it, the Irish Coffee was born! For a more in-depth story, check out any one of these links: Foynes Flying Boat Museum, The Buena Vista, The Ireland Whiskey Trail, CoffeeGeek - Exploring Irish Coffee
